Str8Voices in EMU

World famous German multi-voice chorus entitled Str8Voices gave a wonderful concert at Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center on 12 July 2014 within the framework of the “TRNC International Chorus Festival”.

Prior to the concert, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Abdullah Y. Öztoprak presented awards to 18 Mart Çanakkale University Konrul Vocal Ensemble Chorus Conductor Mete Gökçe and State Symphony Orchestra Artist Oskay Hoca.

During the first part of the concert, Str8Voices performed the following songs: “Man in the mirror – Michael Jackson, Arr. Saddo Heibat (str8voices), Shower the people – James Taylor, Arr. Juan Garcia,Waltz for Debbie – Bill Evans, Arr. Peder Karlsson, My tears dry on their own – Amy Winehouse, Arr. Katharina Sahlfeld (str8voices),Butterfly – Mia Makaroff, Hallelujah – Leonard Cohen, Arr. Jens Johansen (Vocal Line), Dobbin´s Flowery Vale – Irish Traditional, Arr. Matti Kallio, Please don’t go – Barcelona, Arr. Saddo Heibat (str8voices), Engel – Rammstein, Arr.” 

During the second part of the concert, the audience were amazed by Str8Voices’ performance during the songs entitled “Sleep – Eric Whitacre, Ticket to ride – The Beatles, Arr. Peder Karlsson, Be myself with you – Saddo Heibat, Theresa Etzold (str8voices), Boy on the island – Malene Rigtrup, Run, run, run – Anders Edenroth, Father figure – George Michael, Arr. Andrea Figallo, Take on me – Aha, Arr. Oliver Gies, Hobbit – Howard Shore, Arr. Saddo Heibat (str8voices)”.

Following the outstanding performance of Str8Voices, Vice Rector for Promotion and Development, Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri presented an plaque of appreciation to the group. Among notable names who attended the concert were Member of the Parliament Dr. Arif Albayrak, Famagusta Military Services Director Yaşar Kılıç, Vice Rector for Student Services, Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Ülker Vancı Osam, Medicine Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Nahide Gökçora, Fine Arts Education Department Chair Assist. Prof. Dr. Başak Gorgoretti and EMU Public Relations and Press Office Director Derviş Ekşici.
